We went at the very end of September to let the crowds thin out (and to let the temperatures dip below 100^o!).  We also caught perfect weather for the whole trip.  We were unbelievably lucky - everywhere we went there was major flooding (or snow) right after we left - sometimes within a few hours.

   "Road Trip" also conjures up the image of getting wild and crazy.  Hatari means "danger".   On the first leg of the trip I invented the Lexus equivalent of the Hatari seat - standing out the top (moon roof) while blasting down the highway at 85 mph.  Many of my photos were therefore taken from a moving (or jostling) vehicle.

   My primary goal for the trip was to go somewhere that I could take photos.  I hope you will agree that I was successful in meeting that goal.
