We went at the very end of September to let the
crowds thin out (and to let the temperatures dip below 100o!).
We also caught perfect weather for the whole trip. We were
unbelievably lucky - everywhere we went there was major flooding (or
snow) right after we left - sometimes within a few hours.
"Road Trip" also conjures up the image of getting
wild and crazy. Hatari means "danger". On the first leg
of the trip I invented the Lexus equivalent of the Hatari seat -
standing out the top (moon roof) while blasting down the highway at 85
mph.
Many of my photos were therefore taken from a moving (or jostling)
vehicle.
My primary goal for the trip was to go
somewhere that I could take photos. I hope you will agree that I
was successful in meeting that goal.
